Ole and the Instant Camera

I'm very happy with how this turned out.

The following video was done by my friend Josh and I on a local photographer Olé.

Ole Hongvanthong:  PHOTOLE’ (Ole’) is a Lancaster wedding photographer with 12 years of experience. He has a passion for instant film, as well as a passion for teaching.

When we met Ole’ we were shooting a wedding together and started talking about what our passion projects are. We have always had an interest in telling unique stories about people we encounter in day-to-day life. The conversation was short, polite, and really just that; a quick conversation between vendors while quickly eating at a wedding.

In the weeks that followed we learned more about Ole’. We learned about his style, his career, and his collection of Instant Cameras. We decided there was nobody better we could choose for a bio.

We want to thank Ole’ for letting us do this project. He is an incredibly nice guy and it was a pleasure to work with him. It's easy to see that he has an interest in helping others grow creatively. Ole’ has instructed photography at the Pennsylvania College of Art+Design and is currently teaching photography art at Sunshine Art + Design.

He also co-founded the monthly art exhibition, “PARKED”, in downtown Lancaster. Look for his U-Haul truck parked at Binns Park, every First Friday, or meet him for iced coffee at Chestnut Hill Cafe.

This is the story of Ole’ and the Instant Camera.

My friend Josh and I decided to try to find some interesting people in our community and do short bios on them.

We shot our first two weekends ago on a local photographer named Ole. We met him through a wedding we shot together. We told him about our idea over dinner and he seemed like the perfect first subject. He's a really nice passionate guy with an awesome collection of Polaroid cameras.

I'm pretty excited to get this thing up for you all to see. But in the mean time, Here's some sneak peak stills.

May Update

Hello there, long time no see. I'm going to get back into updating at least once a month (this time I mean it) So since we last spoke I was hired full time back in Lancaster, Pa.

I'm really happy about it. Every day is different, I get to be creative, the location is unreal (my fiance works across the street), and the hours are perfect. Life kind of came full circle in the best possible way. That being said I've worked on a ton off different projects lately.

On the side, I've shot a few weddings here and there which I will post as soon as they hit the internet. Not a lot of my recent work has made it's way online.

This piece was done on my own time as a promotion for The Humane League of Lancaster County and my personal favorite part is 32 seconds in when my pup steals the show.

Just some volunteers and a GoPro, fun stuff.

I purchased a new shoulder support, the home-made one from last summer was working well I just wanted something that I can build off of. Nothing fancy or expensive. Looking into getting one of the Benro S4 monopods in the next few months. Slowly building.

Here's a quick sneak peak at a wedding Josh Hankins and I just shot.

Until next time.

Recent Projects

Sorry it's been awhile. A lot has been going on lately. I've moved back to PA, moved apartments, went back to my old job, and started editing for another production company on the side. Plus a handful of freelance gigs. I wanted to put these videos up a little while ago but just now got around to it.

The first is a wedding that I'm pretty proud of, probably my favorite wedding I've done so far. The reason being is my fiance second shot it. I taught her the basics and sent her off and what we came back with I really enjoy.

I think she did an incredible job and that it turned out very well. I shot this on a 7D w/ 50mm 1.4 while she shot with my T3i and a 35-55mm. It was edited by my friend Josh.

... More to come shorty, I've been busy which means I have projects on the way!
